Applying innovative technologies to support our students allows them to not only unlock their greatest potential but to become more independent. Innovation provides the platform for our educational programming to be customized for each student’s individualized and specialized needs.
We have three Capacity focus areas at Lion Star Academy:
High Tech
Devices or equipment with digital/electronic components including software or built-in accessibility features such as text-to-speech, word prediction and optical character recognition.
E.g. iPads, smart boards, adaptive treadmills, augmentative communication devices, power wheelchairs, alternative keyboards
Mid Tech
Devices that may contain complex features, potentially electronic or battery operated, and require some level of training.
E.g. wheelchairs, calculator, MP3 player, digital recorder, simple switch-operated devices
Low Tech
Devices or equipment that are simple, don’t have mechanical features, require little training, and are less expensive.
E.g. flexible furniture, timers, graphic organizers, adapted pencils, slant boards, highlighters, colored overlays
